Felter's 1922 textbook, written in response to repeated requests from his own students at the Eclectic Medical College of Cincinnati -- a condensed, practical single-volume companion to the two-volume King's American Dispensatory he also co-authored. A practicing herbalist writing decades later described keeping several Eclectic materia medica volumes, this one included, beside the bed for regular reference.
